Dogs Barking, Stray, or causing a Nuisance

This page sets out what you can do about barking dogs, stray dogs or dogs causing a nuisance.

You must ensure your dog does not create a nuisance, whether by barking or howling, straying or wandering away from their home property, or attacking or lunging at passers-by, vehicles or birds or other animals.

Impounded dogs

We may impound dogs:

  • found wandering at large
  • found on private property that are not under the direct control of any person on that property
  • dogs that are not confined so as to prevent it leaving the property.

If your dog has been impounded, you will need to pay all the impounding, micro-chipping and registration fees before it is released.

You may also be liable for Infringement fees for having an uncontrolled dog, and/or an unregistered dog.

You can pay at the Pound by EFTPOS or cash.
