Gear Homestead
Gear Homestead is situated in Okowai Road, Papakowhai. The homestead holds a maximum of 80 people in the upstairs room, and 20 in either of the downstairs rooms. From its ornately worked porches and flowing lawns, the view of Porirua’s sparkling twin harbours is breathtaking. There, nestled among the Rose Gardens and flowering shrubs, protected from the winds by a magnificent stand of historic pines, Gear Homestead is an unforgettable picture.
Mungavin Hall
Situated in lower Mungavin Avenue, Porirua, it is sometimes called the Community Hall or Porirua Hall. This hall has three separate areas that are available for hire.
The Supper Room which holds 100 people has separate toilet facilities from the main hall, its own kitchen attached, and a separate entrance.
The main hall holds a maximum of 400 people for meetings, or 250 for receptions. This area has a kitchen and separate toilet facilities. 61 tables and 300 chairs are provided in the main hall, while 8 tables and 70 chairs are provided in the Supper Room. Both kitchens have modern stoves, pie warmers and zips. There is a stage with draw curtains in the main hall.
The committee room is a small room off the foyer of the main hall. It will hold 20 people.
The hall has plenty of parking available for all hires during the week. However, because the hall is in front of the tennis/netball courts which are booked on Saturdays, parking is at a premium on Saturdays during the day.
Ngatitoa Hall
Situated in Ngatitoa Domain, Paremata. This hall holds 400 people for meetings, 250 for receptions, and has a separate supper area and kitchen.
Kelly Sports have taken over the lease of this hall, however it is still available for hire for certain types of events. Please phone them on 021 414 2879 to enquire about hireage details and booking dates.
Plimmerton Hall
Situated in Sunset Parade, Plimmerton, near the Fire Station. Plimmerton Hall is an ideal hall for weddings, social functions and meetings, and the whole facility can hold 150 people. The surface is suitable for indoor bowls. The hall has a separate carpeted supper room which holds 50 people. Off the supper room is a fully equipped kitchen area with stove, pie warmer and two zips. 10 tables and 92 chairs are provided in the main hall, and 20 (4x4) tables and 25 chairs are provided in the Supper Room.
The supper room is able to be hired as a separate venue as it has a separate entrance. The kitchen area is shared by both hirers when these is a duplicate hire of both hall and supper room. There is a stage with separate dressing room facilities. The dressing room is hired by the Mana Little Theatre at a nominal charge. When there is a social function in the hall, the dressing room cannot be hired separately.
In the grounds outside of the hall, new play equipment has been installed.
