Youth Advisory Group

This page describes the Porirua City Council (PCC) Youth Advisory Group (YAG), made up of 18 diverse young people between the ages of 15 and 24.

Formed in April 2008, YAG is a group of young people from different walks of life who meet monthly to discuss youth matters in the city and plan projects for young people, and to discuss, debate, and engage in Council and city politics.  Their purpose is to ensure that young people have a say in Council matters by informing and consulting with a number of youth communities.

YAG members also learn a range of skills that they can utilise in other areas of their lives including: speaking in public, planning projects, writing for media and communicating with diverse audiences.

Young people and the community are welcome to discuss youth issues with the Youth Advisory Group.

This year YAG will be providing scholarships to young people excelling in a range of areas from sport, to academia, culture and leadership.  YAG is also holding a short film competition.  Both projects will be held during Youth Week, 19-27 May 2012.  More information about these exciting projects will be on the website shortly.
