Ko Dee Hikairo ahau.

I enjoy working with young people it's the kind of work that keeps me on my toes! It's forever changing and there is always something new for me to learn. I have been working with young people for over 15 years as a Kapa Haka tutor, theatre group tour manager and facilitator, sexual health educator and a care worker in a group home for Child, Youth and Family. Each of my roles have been rewarding in their own right.

I grew up in Dunedin and I have been living in Wellington for 7yrs. I love Wellington, it's where I call home. I have a son called Te Mairerangiwhitia and he is the biggest blessing in my life, not to mention totally cute!!

I am excited to be part of the team here at Porirua City Council and I am excited to be the Youth Development Co-ordinator and working with young people in the city!!

"Young people are the leaders of tomorrow so it's vital that they are are nutured, guided and encouraged in positive ways. Acknowledging the diversity of youth communities and that all young people, while they may have things in common, experience life differently is important. Young people deserve to be listened to and heard but first they need to be encouraged and supported to have a voice."
