Community Recreation Programmes
This page describes the range of community recreation programmes catering for all ages from Preschoolers to Older Adults.

Kindy Gym - A drop-in gymnastics programme for Under 5's with a mixture free time and structured activity. Each session is one hour long and there is no need to book. Keep a lookout for our themed Kindy Gym classes
Musical Tots - A chance for your child to experiment with rhythm, instruments and singing in a fun and positive environment.
Pre-School Gymnastics - 45 minute structured classes focused on dominant movement patterns. These classes are run by a qualified gymnastics coach.
Creative Kiddies – Pre-school art and craft sessions held at various times throughout the year for special occasions such as Mothers/Fathers Day, Christmas or Easter.
Baby Gym – An exciting session for parent and child to explore the wonderful world of movement. This class is suitable for babies beginning to crawl up to early walkers.
Gymnastics – We cater for children of all abilities from beginners up to competitive gymnasts. All classes are taken by a qualified coach and are taught throughout the school term. We also run trampolining classes.

Junior Sports Leagues
The Porirua Junior Sport Leagues are a great community service offered by the YMCA for young people in the Porirua area. These leagues offer numerous benefits including keeping fit, improving coordination, building teamwork and developing a healthy competitive spirit! Visit the YMCA webpage for more information.
Lifetimers Leisure Club - A chance for older (aged 50+) adults to meet and join in with activities and trips away throughout the year.
HEHA Exercise Circuit – A low paced circuit run by HEHA Porirua for the elderly and people recovering from injury. It is all about promoting movement at your own pace.
Gymnastics – Adults gymnastics and trampolining classes. Great for anyone trying out gymnastics for the first time or ex-gymnasts wanting to get involved again.
Aquarobics - Aqua Combo is a fun way to increase fitness, and sing along to great tunes.
Shake the Fat - A dance based fitness class for all fitness levels.
