Public Sports Grounds

Porirua has 42 sports grounds

The Council provides and maintains 42 sports grounds at different venues across the city. There are facilities for rugby, league, soccer, cricket and softball for play at the highest level of Wellington competition. Fields for the playing of touch, tag, killikiti, athletics and marching are also available.

The sports grounds are used extensively for both casual and organised sport. If you wish to book a sports ground for an organised activity, please ring the Council during office hours on phone (04) 237 5089. There may be a charge for these activities.

Trust Porirua Park (Porirua East)

The park offers a 1900-seat covered grandstand with media box, 4 senior playing fields, 1 softball diamond, changing rooms, public toilets, and television-standard night-lighting.  The number 1 field reaches the highest standard available for top-level competition play. 

The Northern United Rugby Clubrooms are also situated here.

Adventure Park (Whitby)

Features include a pavilion, 2 senior soccer fields, 1 synthetic cricket wicket, one 400m grass athletic track, 2 jumping pits and throwing circles.  The Whitby Bowling Club, Scout Den, Whitby Toy Library and the Whitby Skateboard Park are also situated here.

Ascot Park (Whitby)

Here you'll find e Pacific Island cricket wickets, 2 hard courts, 3 senior rugby league fields, a pavilion, a limestone area suitable for softball or winter sport training.

Cannons Creek Park

For track and field enthusiasts, there's a 400 metre grass running track, four rugby league fields, a grass cricket table and a pavilion.

Cardiff Park (Cannons Creek)

One rugby practice field.

Elsdon Park (Porirua Central)

Includes a pavilion (with associated function room), 1 senior soccer field, 3 senior and 1 junior rugby field, 3 artificial pitches (and 1 grass) cricket table.

Endeavour Park (Whitby)

This park has a pavilion, 2 senior soccer fields, 1 artificial cricket pitch, 2 artificial cricket practice nets, and Western Suburbs Soccer Club clubrooms.

Greenmeadows Park (Pukerua Bay)

A field used for junior soccer games.

Kura Street Park (Titahi Bay)

This park has a pavilion, 1 senior and 1 junior soccer field, 1 senior grass cricket table, 2 jumping pits, a 400m square grass athletics track and throwing circles.

Mungavin Park (Porirua East)

Court sport is catered for at Mungavin Park with 10 netball and tennis courts, Kapi-Mana Netball clubrooms and a playground.

Natone Park (Waitangirua)

Natone Park has 1 synthetic cricket practice wicket.

Ngatitoa Domain (Mana)

A spacious domain featuring a pavilion, 3 senior rugby fields, 1 senior and 1 junior soccer field, a set of 4 artificial cricket practice nets, 4 netball and tennis courts, 2 softball diamonds, 3 senior grass cricket tables, and touch rugby fields.  User-pays public lighting is provided for casual night-time tennis and netball in season, and the Ngatitoa Hall (which is located in the domain) is marked and lit for badminton.  Various other sporting and recreation clubs are based here including the Sea Scouts and Cadets, Mana Cruising Club, Paremata-Plimmerton Rugby Club, Paremata-Plimmerton Netball Club, Ngatitoa Tennis Club, Titahi Bay Dog Obedience, and the Mana Squash Club.  The Paremata Playcentre also has a centre near the tennis courts and play equipment area.

Onepoto Park (Titahi Bay)

Onepoto Park is the site of the Indoor Bowls Association clubrooms, a pavilion, 2 senior soccer fields, 1 senior and 2 junior rugby fields, tag fields, 1 softball diamond, and a Scout Den.

Plimmerton Domain

Three senior soccer fields, and the Mana Archery Club.

Postgate Park (Whitby)

Postgate Park has 1 junior soccer field and 2 junior cricket wickets.

Rangituhi Park (Porirua Central)

This park has 1 rugby field.
