Notified Resource Consent


The Porirua City Council has received an application for resource consent from:


PROPOSAL & ADDRESS: To erect a billboard at 51 Kenepuru Drive, Kenepuru (legally described as Lot 27 DP 18576)

Landuse consent is sought to erect a free standing pole-mounted illuminated LED billboard that will be 6m long and 3m high and mounted 3.4m above ground level. The proposed billboard will comprise multiple linked digital LED panels displaying commercial graphics advertisements.  The proposed billboard will display advertisements which will not relate to the activities on the subject site, though the businesses which utilise the subject site will be given the opportunity to advertise on the proposed billboard (in the same manner as any other party). The proposed billboard will be set 450mm off the north-west facing facade of the existing building, facing Kenepuru Drive and will be aligned parallel with this facade. The proposed billboard will not extend beyond the northern corner or roofline of the building. It will encroach into the 5m Front Yard Permitted Activity Standard setback by up to a maximum of approximately 0.5m. The proposal is overall a Discretionary Activity under the Porirua City District Plan.

Any person may make a submission on the application, but a person who is a trade competitor of the applicant may do so only if that person is directly affected by an effect of the activity to which the application relates that—
(a) adversely affects the environment; and
(b) does not relate to trade competition or the effects of trade competition.

Please be advised that under the original proposal the proposed billboard was to be oriented at an angle from the building, extending to the front boundary of the site, but the application has since been amended such that the billboard is now proposed to be oriented parallel to the front façade of the building.
