Leisure & Recreation Plan 2004-2014

This page describes the Porirua City Council's Leisure and Recreation Plan 2004-2014.

Early in 2003, Council initiated the development of its Leisure and Recreation Plan 2004-2014.  Following an extensive desktop and community-based research and consultative exercise, the rationales for the Plan were developed and approved, followed by consultation on a draft document.

The Plan explores what the Council wants to achieve, how we are going to achieve it and the reasons why.  It was adopted by Council in May 2005.

The draft Leisure and Recreation Plan began a review of the Council’s Recreation and Civic Development Contributions policy.  This aspect of the Plan has not been progressed at this stage.  It needs to be considered within the wider context of the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA) and the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), and will take more time and consultation.
