Tree and Vegetation Policy
This page describes the Porirua City Council's Tree and Vegetation Policy.
Policy approved by Council
The adoption of the Porirua City Council Tree and Vegetation Policy - for Council Land was approved by Council on the 24th June 2009.
The purpose of the PCC Tree and Vegetation Policy - for Council Land is to provide a consistent approach to management of trees and vegetation across all Council owned land throughout the city. It provides a broad basis for managing and enhancing the city’s green infrastructure of trees and vegetation, and is a guide for Council and the community on how the trees and vegetation in Porirua City, on Council owned land, will be managed.
The policy's scope includes all tree and vegetation management on Council controlled land - from street trees to public reserves, management of road reserves and clearance of services. Tree and vegetation management on Council land is critical to the environment of Porirua City and will help ensure a city that is attractive and sustainable. The green infrastructure of trees and vegetation can provide major benefits in areas as diverse as storm water management, amenity and biodiversity enhancement.
