Porirua City is a regional shopping centre that provides a haven for retail shopping. It is close to the Wellington regional population of about 425,000 people, is on State Highway 1, has 3,000 FREE car parks and provides a complete shopping destination.
Porirua is located just 20 minutes north of Wellington by road and only 2 minutes walk from Porirua railway station.
Canopy Connection – Porirua’s City Centre
Located in the heart of Porirua City between the MegaCentre and North City Shopping Centre are the traditional mixed retail shops such as NZ Post, UFS Pharmacy, Harvey World Travel, Windmill Quality Cake Shop, and several food outlets. This area is characterised by a row of distinctive white canopies that provide shoppers with protection from the elements. With approximately 300 free car parks, and over 135 offices and shops, dotted around the city centre's CBD are the banks, legal and professional offices, cafes, community services and retailers.
North City Shopping Centre
North City Shopping Centre is one of the largest indoor shopping malls in the lower North Island and is located within easy reach of State Highway 1 in Porirua City. The Centre is conveniently located near rail and bus services and boasts over 1,300 free carparks. It is home to stores such as K-Mart and Farmers, a host of boutique outlets and national chains as well as a modern food court that caters for all tastes.
The Centre’s modern hands-free toilet facilities are located on the upper and lower levels. Both feature award-winning parents’ rooms, equipped with changing facilities, separate feeding cubicles, bottle warmers, microwaves and toddlers’ toilets – all for parents’ convenience.

MegaCentre
The MegaCentre offers 12 hectares of excellent bulk retail shopping catering to your every requirement. The centre hosts many retail heavyweights with over 1000 free parking spaces.
There are a host of furniture and fitting stores including Harvey Norman, Big Save Furniture and Back To Bed. Homeware stores are in abundance and include The Warehouse, Briscoes, Noel Leeming, Bond and Bond, and Spotlight.
Sporting goods stores Rebel Sport and Pack N Pedal are also located here.
There are several fashion, beauty and electrical outlets, along with Dennys Restaurant, and Brumby’s Bakery.

Suburban Shopping
