This page provides a link to the Elections Portal that has been provided by Local Government Online in conjunction with Local Government New Zealand.

The website provides voters with information on the roles they are eligible to vote for and information on each candidate that participates in its use. In addition it is a central portal for election results across the country. It is a tool that is free to use and gives candidates the opportunity to engage with the community and promote the issues that matter to them. On this site candidates are not constrained to the 150 word limit that the Candidate Profile Statements limit them to, instead, each candidate has the ability to load:
- set length video, candidate statement and other information;
- identification of their key election issues;
- dynamic links to websites, blogs, twitter accounts;
- responses, along with other candidates for that role, to questions asked by voters; and
- an acceptance speech that can be made publicly available once the successful candidates have been announced.
The website is as easy to use as updating a facebook page, logging into internet banking or sending an email. The focus of the site is on reaching those in the community that are eligible to vote and want to engage with candidates in the democratic process.
